Grounded in the use of self portraiture, double-exposures and mirrors, Ava’s work intends to explore (re)memory as it relates to place. Ava makes work from their experiences growing up in rapidly-gentrifying New York City. This experience of constant mourning has led them to take photographs which search for an other-land which is not a place they can go, but a memory to conjure.
